In My Heart

“Sorry I’ve been gone so long. The past few years, they’ve been hectic with all that I’ve been doing- or at least trying to do. I can’t really tell you if I’ve accomplished anything, because I don’t really know myself, but I feel good. For the first time in so, so long, I feel good.”

The wind was blowing in, ruffling waves of golden-brown hair forward with warm, gentle touches; Nature’s blessing.

“I’m living in the city now. Well, more than in the city: in the castle. I can’t remember the last time you saw the castle… Probably a long time. It’s changed a lot since I was little, but it still feels the same…”

The sky was bright, red rays stretching out across the land from where the sun hung on the horizon. The grass of the fields rustled gently and the air smelled of coming rain, dark rain clouds looming behind the dusky sun.

“I… I found someone. Someone good, kind… Someone who understands that I’m a pain in the ass and loves me for it. Someone who makes me happy…”

It was the perfect day with the perfect sky at the perfect time of year.

“Mama…”

A solitary grave stretched up from amidst the grass, free of moss or weeds. Flowers lay bundled upon the ground before the immaculate marker: wildflowers that a child might have picked.

“Kitiana?”

Kit rose from where she crouched before the grave, the wind picking up as she did so and blowing her hair — for once loosed from its tail to hang freely — back from her face as she turned to face the voice. She smiled softly, sweetly: an expression rare and completely feminine.

“Papa.”

Standing among the grass, her father smiled back at her. She ran to him.

One Response to “In My Heart”

  1. Hey,

There’s little that can be said about this blurb, but I trust it will be more than enough:

    Beautiful, my friend, simply beautiful.

    Keep on writing,
